Your AI is scaling your bad knowledge

Can your sales team offer a prospect 50% off? Ask your company’s AI, and you could get answers ranging from 20% to 50%. Every answer sounds confident. Your team still has to check.

That’s the knowledge accuracy gap. AI pulls from scattered Slack threads, call recordings, and documents without knowing which version is approved.

Guru’s Knowledge Accuracy Gap guide helps you fix the problem at the source. Get a short self-check to assess your company’s knowledge, plus a five-step plan to improve the answers your customers and teams rely on.

Start with your most important content. Fix it once, then make that verified knowledge available to connected teams and AI tools.

FTC probes OpenAI, Anthropic

🚨 Our Report

The Federal Trade Commission has launched formal investigations into OpenAI and Anthropic over AI safety practices and consumer protection concerns. The probe marks the first major federal regulatory action targeting the two largest frontier AI labs simultaneously, signaling a shift from voluntary commitments to potential enforcement.

🔓 Key Points

  • The FTC is examining whether the companies' public safety claims align with their actual practices, focusing on potential deceptive advertising under existing consumer protection laws.

  • Investigators are also reviewing the voluntary safety commitments both companies made to the White House in 2023, assessing whether those pledges have been meaningfully implemented.

  • Neither OpenAI nor Anthropic has commented publicly on the investigation, though both have previously stated they welcome regulatory oversight of AI development.

🔐 Relevance

For enterprise buyers, this investigation raises immediate questions about vendor risk and compliance exposure. Companies deploying OpenAI or Anthropic tools should monitor the probe closely, as findings could trigger new disclosure requirements or usage restrictions. If the FTC determines safety claims were overstated, it could reshape how AI vendors market their products and force enterprises to reassess their AI procurement criteria.

HSBC relied on fragmented recruiters across three continents. Here's how AI-powered hiring cut operating expenses 10%.

Steal this: Count how many external recruiting agencies touched your last 20 senior hires. If the number exceeds three, you're bleeding budget on duplicated sourcing and inconsistent candidate experiences. HSBC unified SAP SuccessFactors with Eightfold.ai to shortlist by skills instead of job titles and centralized senior recruitment into proactive talent hubs. Pick one high-volume role category, map every handoff between internal teams and agencies, then consolidate sourcing into a single AI-enabled workflow.

Do you shortlist candidates by skills or job titles?

AI spend is easy to lose track of, until it shows up as a shock on your AWS bill.

Datadog's guide to driving AI ROI shows you how to connect that spend to the infrastructure and model performance behind it. See which model, provider, or team is driving cost, alert on budget overruns in real time, and build a complete picture of ROI across tokens, models, and providers. One company, Kevel, cut AWS costs by up to $100,000/month.

Meta launches its "most capable" open-weight AI model, built to run locally on Macs

The 816 billion parameter model, called Muse Spark Open, comes with a 1 million token context window and native multimodal capabilities. Meta says it outperforms other popular open-weight models on standard benchmarks, with particular strength in complex coding tasks and agentic workflows.

The catch: running it locally requires at least 1 terabyte of RAM, effectively limiting on-device use to high-end Mac Studio machines equipped with M5 Ultra chips. Meta demonstrated the model paired with its Muse Code terminal, showing it could handle full build cycles including bug fixes and new features for a Mastodon client, as well as reviewing and cropping footage in DaVinci Resolve.

Why it matters: Open-weight models offer cost efficiency and transparency that proprietary systems don't. If Muse Spark Open delivers on Meta's performance claims, it could reshape how enterprises approach local AI deployment for coding and creative workflows.

THE MONEY

Capital is flowing away from foundation models and toward companies solving AI's operational constraints. This week's two largest rounds targeted compute efficiency and token economics, not model development. Investors are betting the next wave of AI value creation sits in the picks-and-shovels layer.

Deals to know:

  • Ramp (Series F, $1.85B at $60B valuation) -- Financial operations platform now embeds AI agents across procurement, expense management, and accounting. Launched corporate cards for AI agents and entered model routing to capture token spend management. Annualized revenue crossed $2B. Investors: Dragoneer, Thrive Capital, Founders Fund, Sands Capital, Avenir Growth

  • Ricursive Intelligence (Undisclosed) -- AI-designed chips targeting 10,000x compute demand growth. Uses recursive AI to design full chips in weeks instead of months, optimizing entire architectures rather than partitioned blocks. Founders previously developed AlphaChip at Google DeepMind. Investors: Undisclosed

Signal: Smart money sees AI's value capture shifting from who builds the best model to who manages the infrastructure and spend around it. Token economics and compute efficiency are becoming investable categories.
