Hey {{first_name}}

Rana Gujral is the former CEO of Behavioral Signals and author of the upcoming book The AI Instinct. His company studies the human voice and has spent eight years building a model of roughly 100 behavioral signals tied to things like stress, intent, and deception. That work is now used in government deepfake detection and in call center systems that match customers with agents.

Liam talks with Rana about what that research reveals about everyday conversation, why the EU has restricted emotion-reading AI in workplaces, and the argument at the center of his book: that large language models are missing a dimension of human experience that intelligence alone can't replace.
