Our Report: Spotify has confirmed they’re testing a prompt-based AI playlist feature, where users can prompt an in-app AI system to create entire playlists based on moods, words, and phrases.
🔑 Key Points:
The feature was first noticed by a TikTok user and later confirmed by the company to TechCrunch. Furthermore, users can now access the feature in the Spotify app and can type prompts or select from suggested ones.
Spotify's investment in AI also includes an AI DJ launched earlier this year, which automatically picks songs based on previously selected songs, and ongoing research in AI and personalization.
Furthermore, CEO Daniel Ek has hinted at further AI applications in music creation and podcast summarization; bringing an AI featureset to the entire scope of Spotify products.
On December 4th, Spotify announced that it had laid off over 1500 personnel—or roughly 17% of its workforce—to cut costs by integrating AI across the board internally.

H&R Block (tax prep company) has introduced a new AI chatbot—AI Tax Assist—to its paid DIY tax software, which will answer users' questions about tax rules, exemptions, and other tax-related queries, before guiding users through complex tax situations by providing specific information such as allowable business expense deductions.
Additionally, AI Tax Assist directs users to human tax experts for more personalized advice, with future plans to include AI-powered personalized advice. Furthermore, the IRS is introducing AI to assist customers in filing their taxes—definitely a step in the right direction in our opinion.
Tesla recently released a demo video of their latest humanoid robot, Optimus Gen 2, showcasing significant advancements over previous models, with improvements in speed, weight, and sensory capabilities (30% faster, 10kg lighter, and enhanced tactile sensing on all fingers).
The video demonstrates the robot performing various tasks with improved balance and control, indicating Tesla's progress in developing a functional humanoid robot that could potentially replace human labor in certain tasks. Terrifying or exciting?
In a recent address, Pope Francis expressed concern about the potential risks of unregulated AI development; and cautioned that 'technocratic systems' could prioritize technological advancement at the expense of humanity.
