Our Report: As of yesterday morning Google has introduced their long-awaited, largest, and most powerful AI model—Gemini (it outperforms GPT-4 on 30/32 benchmarks).

šŸ”‘ Key Points:

  • Google will be launching Gemini in 3 different sizes with 3 different use cases: Gemini Ultra (largest, and most powerful) for enterprise, Gemini Pro which scales across multiple vectors, and Gemini Nano (built specifically for mobile & Android).

  • Gemini will also be integrated across Google’s current offerings including Google Bard (their in-house chatbot) & Search Generative Experience (AI-enhanced search).

  • Gemini Ultra is the first model to outperform human experts on MMLU, which includes a combination of 57 different subjects to measure problem-solving ability & world knowledge.

  • Furthermore, it’s been announced that Gemini outperforms GPT-4 on 30/32 benchmarks including math, coding, reading, comprehension, and common sense.

🤨 Why you should care: The introduction of Gemini represents growing competition amongst the big tech/AI companies and highlights future use cases of AI as we start to see models become integrated (offline) within smartphones.

Meta has fully launched 28 AI characters across WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram, with characters, such as Billie (inspired by Kendall Jenner), Zach (based on Mr. Beast), and Bru (inspired by Tom Brady) made readily available for a conversation at moments notice.

Users can start conversations with the AI characters at any time, and the ā€œlong-term memoryā€ feature is now available—allowing users to recall past conversations with their favorite AI avatars. Would you be open to having daily conversations with AI avatars based on celebrities?

Apple has quietly launched MLX, a machine learning framework, which allows developers to build models optimized for Apple silicon (in-house, Apple-built processors), marking Apple’s first entry into the AI space.

MLX is designed for ease of use and power and is capable of training complex AI models. Although it might be another year or 2 until Apple fully enters the AI space with a consumer-facing offering, we can be assured that when they do it with typical Apple flare.

Meta has introduced "Imagine with Meta," a standalone, AI-driven image generator, that utilizes Meta's Emu model, and crafts high-resolution images from text descriptions, similar to DALL-E, MidJourney & other image generators.

The rollout will initially be free in the U.S., offering 4 images per prompt, and will include features such as an invisible watermark for authenticity, transparency, and traceability. This reflects a broader industry trend, with many companies now agreeing to watermark AI-generated content so users can differentiate between human and AI-generated material (step in the right direction).
