Apple using Google for AI-Siri?

🚨 Our Report

Apple is reportedly in early-stage talks with Googleβ€”one of its biggest smartphone rivalsβ€”to integrate a custom-made large language model (LLM), powered by Google’s Gemini, into its voice assistant, Siri, as part of the highly anticipated AI-Siri revamp, which is expected to arrive in 2026, after many delays caused by β€œtechnical challenges.”

πŸ”“ Key Points

  • This news comes after Apple reportedly tried but failed to reach a similar agreement with Claude-maker, Anthropic, and ChatGPT-maker, OpenAI, in June, after abandoning plans to build its own LLM for Siri, in-house.

  • If this collaboration forms, it would further cement the existing partnership between the two: Google is Safari’s default search engine and Apple’s Visual Intelligence feature uses Google to search captured images.

  • After reports of this possible partnership broke on Friday, Google’s shares rose by more than 3%, which shows the potential and investor confidence in the Apple-Google collaboration (even though neither has confirmed it).

πŸ” Relevance

Although working with third-parties has always been part of Apple’s Apple Intelligence strategy, and there’s no doubt that integrating a successful, advanced AI modelβ€”like Google’s Geminiβ€”into Siri would transform the virtual assistant into an incredibly capable AI assistant (which will help boost Apple’s faltering reputation), it just reveals how shockingly behind Apple are in the AI race: They simply cannot compete with the likes of OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic, on their own.

❝

β€œYour AI assistant is a capable employee locked in a dark roomβ€”the only light comes from the papers you slide under the door.”

In 2025, personal branding is essentialβ€”people trust people, not faceless brands. AI can accelerate this process, but only if it’s leveraged in the right way. The key is to treat AI like an employee, not a magic trick.

How Target used AI to make their customers happy

  • US retailer, Target, were struggling with old, siloed systems that couldn’t detect stock issues, which resulted in lost sales and unhappy shoppers.

  • They developed a central, AI-powered forecasting and inventory tracking platform that analyzes inventory levels and sales velocity across stores.

  • The system makes weekly predictions to anticipate restocking needs at the item and location level and identifies misplaced items.

  • This dynamic inventory management means Target has improved stock accuracy, therefore boosting their customers’ experience.

  3. Futurwise uses AI to reveal insights from articles, PDFs, and YouTube videos

  • NVIDIA has reportedly asked several of its AI chip component suppliers to suspend all production relating to the manufacturing of its H20 AI chips, which were designed and manufactured specifically for China.

  • This comes after the Chinese government urged tech companies to stop using H20 chips, especially for sensitive or government-related uses, over security concerns, believing they had remote tracking technology installed.

  • Although NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang told China they could β€œuse the H20 with confidence,” it appears that China might still be wary, which is a blow for NVIIDA after just regaining its US-China export license.

  • Meta’s new Chief AI Officerβ€”Alexandr Wangβ€”announced that Meta is partnering with Midjourneyβ€”a leader in AI-powered image generationβ€”to licence its tech for future Meta AI models and products.

  • According to Wang, to be successful, Meta needs to take an β€œall-of-the-above” approach, which means β€œan ambitious compute roadmap and working with key players across the industry.”

  • This comes after CEO Mark Zuckerberg went on a mass hiring spree, invested in data start-up, Scale AI, acquired voice start-up, Play AI, and even considered taking over OpenAI with Elon Muskβ€”all to get ahead in AI.
